ZEUS
Toronto-based Zeus started recording in 2008 following years of being Jason Collett’s backing band. Zeus then signed to seminal Canadian record label ‘Arts & Craft’s (Broken Social Scene, Feist, etc), realising their debut LP ‘Say US’ in February 2010 which recently won the Album of the Year prize at the XM The Verge Music Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Mercury prize) beating off the likes of Arcade Fire!
Musically they combine the best of classic rock, powerpop and americana.
“Fans of Sloan and New Pornographers should warm immediately to Zeus, a Toronto rock quartet featuring multiple singer-songwriters each with a facility for grand-sounding songs and long-line melodies.” – The Onion (B+)

MY SAD CAPTAINS
The first show in what seems like absolute ages from one of the Windmill’s very favourite bands of the past few years. The four captains have been busy writing and recording their second album for the splendid Stolen Recordings label.
“Recalling the bittersweet memories of childhood summers, and the yearning of love and loss, but with a definite sense of joy among the reflection. A melodic indie-pop classic in the making.”
-Rough Trade Album Club
“slacker indie pop sensibilities that herald an inevitable radio takeover” – Uncut
“yo la tengo’s indie-pop savvy, pavement at their sweetest, and a touch of broken social scene” (drowned in sound).
“genuinely tuneful country tinged songs…one of the capital’s best kept secrets” – The Fly
