Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter – Marble Son

If you don’t know what to expect from Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter’s latest release, prepare yourself for an innovative blend of the utterly beautiful and gloriously bizarre. Marble Son provides listeners with ten original tracks that will take you on a winding, intriguing and often unexpected musical journey.
The sound is a fusion of genres and influences. Whilst feeling completely relevant to today’s music scene it has a timeless quality that should carry its brilliance through the years. The first song is a confident epic 8 minute number that commands listeners with its haunting beauty and provocative vocals. The track is utterly engrossing, requiring your full attention to get your head round the ambitious sound. The rest of the album progresses much in the same way, and is a sound that could probably best described as a consciously avant-garde creation that retains poignant undertones of the past.
An impressive release that I would highly recommend.
