Dean Wareham Plays Galaxy 500 @ XOYO

| On 26, Apr 2011

London, 24th April

XOYO confirms to be one of the best new venues in London with the excellent performance of Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips playing the hits of Galaxie 500. The United Kingdom always praised this band more than the US, their home country did, (even though its necessary to remind Dean was born in New Zealand) and the duo repay the crowd with a superb act.Extremely sober and calm when it comes to talk, Dean expresses all his passion with his Les Paul and the intense lyrics of G500s songs. 14 songs from Today and On Fire, 1989s masterpiece of the band to remind indie-kids that they owe so much to a band that has been too much underrated for its class and emotive potential. Dean and Britta, together in life as in their project Luna, are as tight-knit on stage, producing such touching executions of songs like Blue Thunder and Strange that left the audience speechless.

Initially accused of being just a Velvet Undergrounds knockoff, Galaxie 500 only in recent times had gained popularity, when their influence not only on dream-pop and indie, but on all the alternative panorama of music of nowadays has been recognised. Dean Wareham will continue touring around Europe until the end of the month, and will take part in Primavera Festival in Barcelona this summer in a not to be missed show.
