Oui Madame! After Le KKC Orchestra and La Caravane Passe smashed Rich Mix in February, VIVE LA FRANCE is back for Round Two, featuring “la creme de la creme” of genre smashing live French music. In partnership with the French Music Export Office and Pernod Ricard, the “Vive La France” series of gigs launched in early 2010 at Favela Chic in Shoreditch London. A special edition was held at Glastonbury in June 2010, at RichMix in February 2011 and they’re back again – heading to Glastonbury the following day! Every month Vive la France at Favela Chic has brought you incredibly talented guest performers from the beautiful country of Camembert. For this second edition, they bring electro pop acts extraordinaire Pony Pony Run Run, Naïve New Beaters and deBruit.

The day after, Saturday 25 June, we host a stage at Glastonbury with the same line up (plus Discodeine and System 7) in the infamous Shangri La late night arena. If you’re around – come along and say “bonjour!”

Expect buzzing pop, skewed electro, 80s style hip hop and serious synth magic.

Pony Pony Run Run

Pony Pony Run Run are three lads from Nantes who found each other whilst studying fine art. One thing lead to another and they ended up creating pop-drunk and indie-infused music. They pride themselves on dance floor inducing ditties and anthem inspired pop tunes. Hyperactive live performances are riotous, introducing filled stadiums as well as intimate audiences to a scuzzy, synthetic touch of lo-fi and electro powerpop. They’re French, they sing in English, and we love them for it.

Naïve New Beaters

Clad in 80s jumpers and rocking out with an eclectic version of pop and rap, Naïve New Beaters are a melting pot of genre and style. Think a Parisian/American Fresh Prince combined with Eurobelix’s affinity for electro and Martin Luther’s love of rock. Estranged reggae and skank-pop are the cherry to their lyrical sundae. Electric live performances include synchronised dance routines, attempts at pyrotechnic effects, dancing and plenty of party.

deBruit

Parisian synth magician, dÉbruit, takes you downtown to LA block parties via dark Congolese sound systems, Kingston recording studios and Tunisian backstreet souks. His sounds sing anything with heavy beats; whether it’s kwaito house rhythms, bump hop or French b-boy electro. Leaving his Parisian basement bars, he heads to London, ready to throw some serious basslines and thrilling synth into the atmosphere.

Co-founder of the eclectic Favela Chic, Gringo da Parada, spins a set reflecting both the chaotic and harmonious. Bringing you a kaleidoscope of musical colours of the purest tradition from French chanson to Brasilian baile funk.
