Middleman – one of the best emerging new bands around are about to release one of the debut albums of the year

| On 18, Apr 2011

Middleman are set to release their debut full-length studio album, “Spinning Plates” on May 2nd through Blip Records/Universal and it is one of the best debuts you will hear this year.

‘Spinning Plates’, is an album that surprises and astounds at every turn; unpredictability is king but its ten tracks are incredibly catchy & leave you wanting to go through it all again! Their new album, ‘Spinning Plate’ is compiled from the songs that Middleman self-recorded over a six month period in a tiny studio in Leeds and means everything to Middleman – “It tells the truth, it doesn’t sugar coat anything and its got just the right balance of the dark side and a defiant, undying optimism. It’s already paid off for us creatively; this album represents everything we have been searching for since we started out 4 years ago both sonically and lyrically.”

The result of this 4 years hard work is a debut album of album of immense originality. Opening with the title track and finishing with their emphatic live set closer “Holding Out For The Sun” the record displays depth & big pop choruses throughout.

The album includes the previous two singles – “It’s Not Over Yet” which has been synced to the NBA2K11 computer game alongside artists such as Snoop Dogg, Drake and 2 Door Cinema Club. The second single  “Chipping Away“, released in November gained support from Radio 1, Kerrang Radio, BBC Introducing, BBC Raw Talent & was playlisted by XFM  as well as being playlisted on Sub.TV and NME Radar TV.

Since January the two different adverts for the Gadget Show have used two more album tracks, “Clipped Wings” and “Holding Out For The Sun“. The recent advert for American shows on 5 and Fiver used “Good To Be Back”.  While the new single “Spinning Plates” has been made the music to the new adverts for CSI. This means that so far this year half of Middleman’s debut album has been synced to television and computer games, before the album has even been released.

The whole of “Spinning Plates” comes from their desire make a record and create a piece of art that represents “our true thoughts and feelings. We’ve named the album ‘Spinning Plates’ because that’s what it feels like we’ve been doing. Hopefully it’s a feeling most people can relate to, it’s about juggling everything life has to throw at you whilst desperately trying make time for the things or people you truly love. In our case we love being in a band that has set out to swim against the current and do something totally original“.

2011 is going to be a big year, if not THE year of Middleman and their unique brand of quintessentially British, feel-good, big-beat, toe-tapping, ear-mashing hip-pop. A 20 date UK Tour is in place as well as commiting to dates in Holland, Germany, Spain & Greece.

In Middleman’s own words “We’ve reached a point that at one stage seemed completely un-obtainable and proved to ourselves that never compromising in what we are trying to do will always pay off. In 2011 we are going to be playing in your town, you will hear us on your radio and see us on the television and the whole time you will be saying, their music’s not what I would usually choose to listen too but I like it?.”
