Japenese Voyeurs – “Get Hole” new single out now
aaamusic | On 18, Apr 2011
London blood curdling rock quintet Japanese Voyeurs will be releasing their feverish new single ‘Get Hole’ on April 18th. As well as uploading a typically dark video to go with it, they’ve also confirmed a string of headline shows over the next month: Camden Crawl and a Trail of Dead support slot and a full UK tour supportingBlack Spiders in May.
The second single to be taken from their eagerly-awaited debut album ‘Yolk’, ‘Get Hole’ fuses vicious riffs with Romily Alice’s unmistakable sweet & sour vocals.
Yolk’ is due to be released later this year and was recorded with GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine/The Melvins/Jesus Lizard) in an isolated farmyard in the forests of Canada, and mixed by Alex Newport (Fudge Tunnel/At The Drive-In) in the sweat of the Brooklyn Summer. Veering from the softest caresses to the most brutal of attacks, you can feel not only the dichotomy between the seclusion of the Canadian wilderness and the strip bars of inner city New York, but the internal psychodrama that makes the record such a visceral experience.
Romily sums the record perfectly: “when we started out there weren’t that many new groups making heavy music, the kind of music we liked to listen to when we were growing up, we wanted to recapture that spirit and that brutality”.
Japanese Voyeurs are Johnny Seymour (Bass), Rikki Waldron (Keys), Romily Alice (Guitar/Vocals) Steve Wilson (Drums) and Tom Lamb (Guitar).
‘Brody Dalle aside, we haven’t seen a rock front woman blend petulance and power
this convincingly since the 90’s’ – Kerrang
“It’s an onslaught of noise and intense psychodrama to soundtrack the most vicious hair-flailing…
That’s exactly why we like them”– Guardian New Band of the Day
“They do psychotic rage better than anyone else around at the moment.
This is compelling and powerful stuff.”– Music News
