Broken Bells – Meyrin Fields EP

| On 17, Apr 2011

Broken Bells debut album, released in 2010, quickly became one of the gems of the year. It is so surprise than that the decision to release this 4 track EP – Meyrin Fields – for Record Store Day was going to be a brilliant idea and definitely one of the top buyers of this year’s event.

The only downside of this release is that half of the EP has been previously released, leaving the more dedicated fans a bit disappointed. But fear not, the second half of the EP won’t leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth. Windows and Heartless Empire don’t have much of the sound we all became familiar with in their debut album; instead, the tracks are filled with trip hop, electro, drum and bass, distorted, pitched vocals and an overall shoeagaze element which accompanies the listener throughout the journey and introduce us to a different Broken Bells world: perhaps a little sample from the new album? If so, it is relieving to know Broken Bells are experimenting with new sounds. Let’s hope the wait for the new material won’t be too long. Recommended.
