OZZY OSBOURNE TO BE HONOURED AS ‘LEGEND’ AT THE KERRANG! AWARDS 2011 FUELLED BY RELENTLESS ENERGY DRINK

EXCLUSIVE LONDON SHOW ANNOUNCED TO MARK
30th ANNIVERSARY OF KERRANG! MAGAZINE

COREY TAYLOR AND SCOTT IAN CONFIRMED AS AWARDS HOSTS

Kerrang! Magazine will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year in true rock ‘n’ roll style with the announcement that the Prince Of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, will be honoured with the ‘Kerrang! Legend’ award at this year’s Kerrang! Awards 2011 fuelled by Relentless Energy Drink.
Ozzy will be crowned ‘Kerrang! Legend’ at the infamous awards bash, which takes place in London on Thursday 9 June. To celebrate this achievement and to continue the 30th birthday celebrations until the end of the month, Ozzy will be taking time out of his world tour to play an exclusive London show on Tuesday 21 June at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo.

Tickets for this one-off UK show go on pre sale on 13th April from www.aloud.com <http://www.aloud.com/>  and on general release on 15th April.

Ozzy Osbourne commented, “It’s an incredible honour to be the 2nd recipient of Kerrang’s LEGEND Award. I’m looking forward to you all going “Fucking Crazy!” at the 30th Anniversary party on June 21st at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo!”

Kerrang! Magazine editor Nichola Browne said, “We are so unbelievably excited to have Ozzy play this very special show for our 30th birthday celebrations in June. We are privileged that the Prince of Darkness can help us mark this momentous milestone in style and it’s guaranteed to be a night to remember! Ozzy has been the mainstay of rock music. During his long and colourful career, he’s not only helped define heavy metal as the voice of Black Sabbath, he’s also enjoyed a three-decade reign as a solo artist and inspired thousands of rock fans to “go f***ing crazy” during his unmissable live shows. He’s a much-loved, larger-than-life personality, and it is only fitting that we will be honouring Ozzy with the prestigious Legend Award at this year’s Kerrang! Awards.”

The Kerrang! Awards 2011 fuelled by Relentless Energy Drink coincide with the release of definitive editions of Ozzy Osbourne’s landmark solo albums “Blizzard Of Ozz” and “Diary Of A Madman” – both albums showcasing Ozzy’s musical collaborations with the late guitar hero Randy Rhoads. Restored and remastered from the original recordings they are set for release through Sony CMG on the 30th May 2011. Ozzy also releases a Special 30th Anniversary Deluxe Collector’s Box Set, that includes both albums On CD & Vinyl, 100-page Coffee Table Book, “Thirty Years After The Blizzard” DVD Documentary, full-size detailed replica of Ozzy’s Iconic Cross and more….

Renowned for its debauchery and memorable moments, the Kerrang! Awards fuelled by Relentless Energy Drink will be firing on all cylinders and taking no prisoners this year, with proceedings cranked up to 11 to celebrate 30 years of Kerrang! Magazine. This year’s ceremony will be hosted once again by two true rock legends – Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian – who join forces to compere the awards for the third consecutive year.

On taking up the mantle of co-host again, Corey Taylor said, “In the third episode, Luke confronts his father Darth Vader, Indiana Jones and his father search for the Holy Grail, Harry Potter mistakenly fights his godfather and Richard Pryor tries to defeat Superman with computers. Oh wait- is this about my 3rd year co-hosting or my favourite third movie moment? Oh well – at least my suit will be wonderful again…”

Lets hope Corey isn’t referring to his birthday suit…

Scott Ian, who hosted the Kerrang! Awards for two years before sharing duties with Corey, and whose band Anthrax formed 30 years ago this year, added, “Wow! My 5th Kerrang! Awards as host! It’s really a testament to how much fun I have doing it, because if I didn’t have fun, why bother? And it’s the 3rd in a row with my partner Corey. We’re the Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant of awards shows. Now we just need to find our Karl….”.

Voting for the Kerrang! Awards 2011 fuelled by Relentless Energy Drink is open NOW on www.kerrang.com <http://www.kerrang.com> or by picking up a copy of Kerrang! Magazine. Who will emerge victorious this year – will anyone take Bullet For My Valentine’s three-year crown for Best British Band? Who will steal the limelight on the red carpet? Who will create the most debate this year?

Kerrang! first launched on 6 June 1981 as a supplement with the now defunct Sounds magazine, as the world’s first specialist metal magazine. The name Kerrang!, now an iconic and world-renowned name, was picked to imitate the sound of a distorted powerchord… although at the time it had more Rs! The first ever issue had AC/DC’s Angus Young as the cover star.

Kerrang! enters its 30th year stronger than at any point in its history, living life loud as the UK’s most exciting youth media brand.  Our passion for taking rock music to the widest audience possible is greater than ever and we intend to celebrate our birthday in our customary debauched manner.

Kerrang! is now the world’s biggest selling music weekly and was the fastest growing music title at the Jul-Dec ’10 ABC. Kerrang! is the original multimedia platform now boasting online, radio, TV, regular video podcasts and events.
