Prolific songwriter Joseph Arthur makes glorious return with first solo album in 5 years and UK shows
“There’s nothing to do in the Midwest but dream”, sings Joseph Arthur on ‘The Graduation Ceremony’, his first solo album since 2006’s ‘Nuclear Daydream’. Released in the UK on July 4th through Fargo Records ‘The Graduation Ceremony’ will be preceded by a string of shows this May including one at Bush Hall in London on 5th May, a venue he sold out last year.
In the five years since that critically acclaimed release Arthur has toured the world relentlessly, continued his work as a celebrated visual artist, recorded and scrapped an entire record, and written, recorded and released an album with Ben Harper and Dhani Harrison as part of the rock super-group Fistful Of Mercy. ‘The Graduation Ceremony’ is yet another fine example of Arthur’s effortless musicianship and songwriting talents.
Produced by John Alagia and featuring legendary session drummer Jim Keltner (John Lennon, Bob Dylan), ‘The Graduation Ceremony’ is a sparkling collection of timeless songs, orchestrated throughout with Arthur’s signature noisescapes and beautifully adorned with elegant string arrangements.
