Barbara Panther’s stunning track ‘Empire’ is out now through City Slang, and to celebrate the label are giving away the Lorn remix of the track in question. ‘Empire’ is taken from her Matthew Herbert-produced, self-titled debut album which is released on May 16th.
Collaborating with Herbert, whose previous clients have included the likes of Björk, R.E.M. and Yoko Ono has enabled Panther to create dark and exciting sonic landscapes, fraught with vivid imagery and fierce beats. One such example is ‘Empire’. You can download the track directly using this link:
Directed by Woof Wan-Bau, who has worked on videos for Mogwai and Four Tet in the past, ‘Empire’ has a suitably surreal and twisted video, with flamboyant costumes and choreography to match.
The wonderfully dark video for ‘Empire’ can be seen here:
With her next single ‘Moonlight People’ to be released on May 9th and her album to follow on May 16th, things are moving quickly for Panther. ‘Empire’ is a fantastic introduction to her distinctly bizarre world, so don’t miss out or you’ll be left behind.
