Absynthe Minded – Absynthe Minded

The innovative sounds of Belgian sensation Absynthe Minded’s latest self-titled album has already earned the band huge acclaim in their native country, having received four Belgian Music Industry Awards including Best Album and Best Independent Rock Group, all of which is entirely justified. The band’s ballsy fusion of jazz and rock had me fixed immediately; the most alluring thing about Absynthe Minded is that the music that they produce, whilst being inventive and original, seems to come entirely naturally, perhaps even thoughtlessly.
Highlights of the album include the elegant and mesmerizing Dead on My Feet; a great indie-pop track with a soulful melody that will not fail to infect your mind. The standout track of the record was, for me, a previous single release: Envoi. The upbeat song captures the chilled vibes of the moment, a beautiful creation that plays blissfully in the sunshine.
Absynthe Minded is a great release from a tremendously talented band. The album is effortlessly original and should secure its place onto every Indie summer soundtrack of 2011.
