Spring Offensive – A stutter and a start

‘A stutter and a start’ is the latest single by Oxford quintet Spring Offensive. Following their last release; a 14 minute long mega-single, their latest effort- at a modest three and a half minutes has a wider appeal and is certainly more radio friendly.
This number begins with a jumpy guitar riff that sets the tone for the catchy tune which overall showcases the bands distinctive sound and has a very polished feel. The lyrics are quite simple yet feel personal and along with the layered guitars and racing drums make this song incredibly contagious.
The single is accompanied by ‘The Well’, a somewhat smoother track with an effective build up from a laid back sound to a more upbeat crescendo with interweaving guitars and memorable vocals from lead singer Lucas Whitworth.
Spring Offensive have mastered the craft of creating wonderfully catchy songs and it’s not too hard to imagine the lyrics to ‘A Stutter and a Start” rolling off the tongues of thousands of indie lovin’ teens all over the country. These guys could be ones to watch.
‘A Stutter and A Start’ will be released both digitally and physically on 11th April 2011.
