IN-FLIGHT SAFETY, the majestic Canadian 4 piece are finally set for their first ever UK album release with ‘We Are An Empire, My Dear’ on April 2011 through Conehead. It is an album filled with gently uplifting bar-room soaked tales of fables and monsters (‘Big White Elephant’, ‘Torches’), mountain climbing miracle escapes (‘Amy Racina’) parodic failed relationships (the epic current single, ‘Model Homes’) and a study in human relations (‘Actors’). Pooling influences from the likes of The Cure, Talk Talk, The National, Sigur Ros, Wilco and, as singer John Mullane says, ‘The 1980s in general’. It is a wonderfully hypnotic record and one will firmly establish them in the UK as classic songwriters to look out for.

The band formed in their native Canada whilst they were all studying at university and finishing their first degrees. Working hard and building up interest in the album whilst playing shows and touring with the likes of Broken Social Scene, Stars, The Acorn and Final Fantasy, they secured sync’s on NBC’s ‘Chuck’ and also two tracks featured on ‘The Vampire Diaries’.
The band have built up quite a fanbase including Andy Rourke, (The Smiths), who they performed with on his tour of Canada and when asking their biggest fan, David Bowie, what he thought of the band he quite simply said “Nice album”!
Following on from successful shows at last year’s New York CMJ Awards, being invited to play at the 25th Anniversary of Austen’s SXSW festival and after inking a deal with Conehead in the UK, 2011 will see the bands first ever European dates and festivals. The band will be touring throughout Europe and the UK
