Jim Kroft has today released the video for his new single ‘Modern Monk.’

After his last single ‘Memoirs from the Afterlife’ went top 100 after being nationally playlisted in Germany, Kroft, suffered a moment of reflective madness under Banhoff Friedrichstrasse leading to musing upon man´s condition, the poetry of loneliness & the spiritual desolation in the West. Kroft describes the track as a psychedelic prose poem whose colour has been stolen by the boogie man.

So when Italian director Oliver Valente heard a demo of the song in Tanzania, he contacted Jim determined to give a Film Noir touch to the themes of alienation, dislocation & ultimate redemption touched at in the song. Inspired by the film “Pi” they set about conceiving the video as a short film. The video features Rummelsnuff, an icon of German underground, who rose to fame out of the old German Democratic Republic music scene. After playing with him while on tour in Dresden Kroft floated the idea of a collaboration which “the Captain” swiftly agreed too.
