Album Tale To Be Told out May 2nd on Black Records – Long awaited and eagerly anticipated the new album sees the band evolve from unruly bar band to shape shifting orchestral ensemble. Mixed by Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool) and featuring guest appearances from Johnny Flynn on violin, the bare knuckled violence still cuts through on Guns Like Drums and Crazy Eyes, and the guitars rock heavier than ever on They Will Not Depart and Faded Roses, but elsewhere there is greater sensitivity and illicit tension, never more so than on the female fronted To Forgive and Fever Lullaby.
Press reaction to the debut album The Bookhouse Boys:
“Their debut album hits the musical spot so impressively. An epic and explosive mix… The Bookhouse Boys put a modern twist on their influences that is totally their own.” NME
“A full-blooded exercise in cowboy noir… the interplay between the male and female voices is spine-tingling.” WORD
“Gleefully combines surf guitar, spaghetti western, southern gospel and smart, bleak songs in the vein of Nick Cave and Calexico. These people have seriously good taste.” **** THE TIMES
“Music about life and death, whisky and pistols, religion and love. Step into the dark and magical world of The Bookhouse Boys. “ – ARTROCKER *Recommended album*
“The most ambitious debut of the year. The Bookhouse Boys are here.” CLASH
“A remarkable diversity of styles. Bloody Brilliant.” ROCKSOUND 9/10
