‘KXP‘ is the brand new self-titled release from Finnish trio; ‘KXP’ formerly known as ‘Op:l Bastards’.
Opening with ‘Elephant Man’, made up of drums, bass and synths ‘KXP’ instantly displaying there unique electronic/experimental sound. The album continues track after track in this fashion of weird but wonderful soundscapes provoking an array of imagery and atmosphere around you.
’18 Hours (Of Love)’, moves away from the more eerie sounding drums, bass and synths of the previous track into what can only be described as a more “psychedelic” sound, conveying the band’s range. Also with the introduction of vocals one minute and thirty five seconds into the track, ‘KXP’ show that they are not a background or atmosphere band as the previous tracks convey, but in fact multi-layered.
‘KXP’ is a little bit like a film soundtrack from the 1980s, is completely bizarre, surreal and so very weird but still you can’t help but like it, especially since it seems to create a make believe narrative to everyday life, making the most common of sights so much more interesting.
Coming to a conclusion with ‘Epilogue’, in a true fashion of epic brilliance both bizzare and brilliant.
