The Retrospective Soundtrack Players debut album ‘Cool Hand Luke’

| On 18, Mar 2011

The Worlds first concept-country/folk band The Retrospective Soundtrack Players will be releasing their debut album ‘Cool Hand Luke’ on the 4th April through Xtra Mile Recordings (Frank Turner, Chris T-T, Far). The album is a creation of soundtracks created by the band to form various backdrops to their favourite cult films and books.

The Retrospective Soundtrack Players story is far from ordinary. Originally beginning as a two man concept project by two of indie-folk outfit The Dawn Chorus the duo won a competition through Xtra Mile Recordings website (www.xtramilerecordings.com <http://www.xtramilerecordings.com/> ) in August 2010 to have their track ‘Real Cool Hand’ featured as the B-side to (now label-mate) Frank Turner’s single ‘Try This At Home’. The success of the limited edition (and now highly collectable) split 7″ was far greater than than the band anticipated and saw them being featured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music before they had played any shows! Following on from the unexpected success chief songwriter Kyle Evans then began to gathered together a collective gaggle of musicians from the thriving Hampshire music scene – including members of The B of the Bang and All The Shapes and the 12-legged country/folk/punk beast The Retrospective Soundtrack Players was born!
