Electronic act Pendulum are the latest band to be announced for the 2011 Eden Sessions and will headline a show in the shadow of the iconic Biomes on Saturday June 25.
The Anglo-Australian six-piece released their third studio album Immersion in 2010 and saw it hit the top of the UK charts, following the upward trend started by their acclaimed 2005 debut Hold Your Colour and their 2008 platinum follow-up In Silico.
The Pendulum sound has evolved since the band’s formation in Western Australia nine years ago and, from drum ‘n’ bass origins, now combines electronic beats and synthesisers with more traditional rock instruments.
Pendulum have established themselves as one of the most exciting live acts around, having played headline tours and festivals around the world. This year, has seen them opening for US superstars Linkin Park on their A Thousand Suns US tour, complete their own North American headline tour and headline Future Music Festival in Australia, all before the end of March.
This year’s Eden Sessions will feel more like a one-day festival than ever before, with three stages featuring some of the best up-and-coming acts playing from early afternoon on each day as well as world-famous headliners. Every Sessions ticket includes entry to Eden on the day of the show or the day after.
Pendulum join Primal Scream and The Horrors (playing on June 23), The Flaming Lips, The Go! Team and OK Go (June 30), Fleet Foxes and Villagers (July 1) and Brandon Flowers and Mystery Jets (July 12) on the line-up for the 2011 Eden Sessions. More acts will be announced shortly.
Tjarko Wieringa, Eden Sessions Creative Director, said: “Pendulum are another great act for this year’s Sessions and their energy, enthusiasm and sci-fi sensibility is the perfect fit for Eden’s unique amphitheatre.
“The line-up for this year is taking shape and we’re really excited to be hosting some of the best live acts around. We’re confident that the tenth year of Eden Sessions will be the best we’ve ever seen.”
The Eden Sessions are now in their tenth year. Performers in previous years include Oasis, Kasabian, Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, Muse, Paul Weller, Jack Johnson, Hot Chip, Snow Patrol, Moby, PJ Harvey, The Verve and many more.
