Give-Away ‘Solar Death March (In Octaves)’ as Free Download:

GRAB IT HERE

Ahead of Release of UK Debut Album Solar, out 2nd May on Fullsteam Records.

After Rubik’s first single and forthcoming album track ‘Laws of Gravity’ found itself getting some healthy respect from those whose-respect-music-lovers-respect, with RCRD LBL premiering the track and describing it as an “Impeccably tailored, brawny, of-course-it’s-from-Finland-cause-Vikings-invented-lionhearted rock” Rubik felt it time to unleash another taster.

‘Solar Death March (In Octaves)’ is as epic and intelligently constructed as its title. It is also stunningly beautiful. Like a perfect day in a perfect Summer. Energised, sparkling, a little romantic in a dreamy way and as free-spirited as a song can get.

Rubik release their self-produced and recorded album ‘Solar’ on 2nd May. It includes both ‘Laws of Gravity’ and ‘Solar Death March (In Octaves)’. While ‘Solar’ is Rubik’s UK debut, it is the band’s third studio album. Its predecessor, the album ‘Dada Bandits’ was a huge critical success across the pond, with USA tastemaker site Popmatters hailing it brilliant, album-of-the-year type material … to listen is to hear as good a summation of modern indie rock as you’re likely to hear” and Nylon magazine following with “listening to Dada Bandits, it’s hard not to feel that Rubik’s done more—rather than following international trends, they’re showing us all the way forward.”

Rubik have played the world’s biggest festivals Roskilde, Øya, Primavera Club and CMJ, gaining glowing live reviews from the attending UK press: ”the band looks like a blonde Kings of Leon before they found razors and sound like a cross between Animal Collective, Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio and Arcade Fire but with more verve and a quirky lead singer with fantastic stage presence.” – Clash Magazine

For those who have yet to have the pleasure of Rubik’s live experience and who come to their debut UK release Solar with fresh ears, expect gloriously bright yet brawny indie pop, with Finnish quirks and individuality aplenty thrown in. ‘Solar’ was mixed by Ben Allen  (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, Gnarls Barkley) which adds to Solar’s eclecticism and experimentation, spanning the gamut with tracks of shiny synth pop to twisted folk-pop.
