Reggae innovators Easy Star All-Stars release first full length original studio album
The Easy Star All-Stars, best known for their now legendary re-interpretations of classic rock albums, enter a new chapter in their career with the release of First Light – the bands’ first full-length album of entirely original material. The album comes out in the UK on the 30th May.
The Easy Star All-Stars have brought reggae to the masses by releasing a highly successful series of tribute albums: Dub Side of the Moon (2003), a reggae re-invention of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon; Radiodread (2006), the band’s take on Radiohead’s OK Computer; Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band (2009), a cover of Sgt. Pepper’s that was the first reggae record to crack the Billboard Top 200 chart in over 2 years; and finally Dubber Side of the Moon (2010) a monumental remix of their landmark album.
Now, with the 14 track First Light, this incredible band showcases their own songwriting pedigree. It’s a fresh and vibrant reggae sound that only they could have delivered; a unique mix of classic reggae feel and modern R&B, pop and soul. A wonderfully diverse album that will thrill both dedicated fans of the band and curious newcomers alike.
