You will know the voice of Sophie Barker from Zero 7’s stunning first two albums, you will also know her from Groove Armada, The Egg, Tocadisco, Grooverider, Lullaby and also from her 2004 debut solo album ‘Earthbound’; there’s more, but all that was then.

This is now – and Ho Hum Records are delighted to announce the first release from the long-awaited second Sophie Barker LP, ‘Seagull’, which takes flight in May 2011.

‘Say Goodbye’ delights in a French acoustic pop feel, Sophie’s lead vocal leading the acoustic guitar, Wurlitzer and piano melody to a merry dance and as ‘the daylight falls’ the track twists and turns until reaching a crescendo – wherein the electric guitar roars upwards before fading behind the sound of the strange funfair ride which ebbs and flows in to the new day…

Alongside ‘Say Goodbye’ are two wonderful remixes from Lucky Elephant (Sunday Best) and The Beauty Room (Kirk Degiorgio) which both pick out different elements in the single; Lucky Elephant’s is upbeat with an 80s nod, whilst The Beauty Room offer an analogue down-tempo class to the proceedings.
