Pope Joan release new single ‘A Drowning’ March 21st

Free track ‘Mattias’ available now

Brighton art-pop collective Pope Joan are set to release their new single ‘A Drowning’ on March 21st 2011. A visceral, absorbing track that perfectly captures the band’s innate creativity, ‘A Drowning’ is Pope Joan’s first release of 2011, having already impressed live audiences performing with the likes of The Invisible, The Vaccines and Twin Shadow.

The track sees the band explore the unique emotions experienced through love, as lead singer and guitarist Sammy Aaron Jr. explains: “’A Drowning’ is a simple love song. It talks about the experience of drowning, but in a way that celebrates giving yourself up to something or someone. The video for the track is equally simple and stripped down. Parts of the footage were projected onto water and re-filmed, creating some really striking effects.”

‘A Drowning’ is accompanied by the b-side ‘I Can’t Stand You At All’. With its sing-a-long chorus against the deep, rumbling synth stabs which flow effortlessly through its core, the track has fast become a live favourite among Pope Joan’s accomplished repertoire.

For a taster of the bands unique sound, a free recording of their track ‘Mattias’ is available to download now through their website and soundcloud page.

‘A Drowning’ is available from all good online distributors on from March 21st.
