Manic Street Preachers – Postcards From A Young Man
aaamusic | On 26, Feb 2011
Sweeping in on multi-tracked guitars, colossal sounding drums and a string section half-inched from the greatest West End musical in history, this spectacular single showcases the band in a typically defiant mood raging against middle age, blandness and conformity with a grace and class not seen by them for a long time. That said, this is grace and class by a band whose bassist is famous for wearing dresses during gigs despite being forty-two, so it does so while simultaneously sounding like Jeff Lynne and Freddie Mercury’s most extravagant wet dreams. Truly, this is a record where you have to listen while dodging several kitchen sinks hurtling towards you, and it sounds fan-fucking-tastic.
