Goodluck Jonathan – This Is Our Way Out 28th February

This is the third and final EP in the Goodluck Jonathan trilogy. As a brand new band, formed of five hugely talented but very different individuals – with musical tastes running the spectrum of melodic indie to dance to thrash metal – they made the decision to lay down their early musical exploration and progress in three mini-collections of music. And so the ‘This Is Our Way Out’ trilogy of EPs was born.
A less brave band in their infancy would’ve locked themselves away in a darkened rehearsal room, practicing, over-polishing and deciding on one easily understood musical route to travel down, and firmly stuck to it. And this is exactly why Goodluck Jonathan shine, for they encompass it all – the melodic intricacies and tenderness of The Maccabees and The Fouls to the raw, unhinged energy of our Code Name Is: Milo – or as Alter The Press rightly put it after rating EP2 5/5 “Goodluck Jonathan manage to fill the void that bands like At the Drive in left open”.
Goodluck Jonathan are a dynamic proposition, a force on a very direct mission to “blur the lines between genres until they merge into one barrier between good music and shit music” –Goodluck Jonathan. Something highlighted by the dirty beats they invited Breton to lay all over EP1’s track ‘Broken Heart’, with the remix appearing on EP3.
‘This Is Our Way Out’ EP3 is out 28th February. All three EPs will be put out on one album, also entitled ‘This Is Our Way Out’, and is set for release in May. Both are released on Something Nothing Records.
Goodluck Jonathan play The Bowery, London on 3rd March. More dates tbc.
