‘Camino Del Sol: South American Music To The Mayan Calender’ is the album by a collective of musicians comprising of Martina Schroder, Wolfgang Krois, Dioni Varias Astudilllo, Santos Salinas Castillo, and Werner Sinner, forming the magnificent ensemble that is Balanza. Consisting of two guitars, flutes, accordion and percussion forging a traditional and captivating ambience. Balanza who steeped themselves in the profound knowledge of Mayan literature and the sacred Mayan calender during the composition of the 20 track album, have effectively fused each track with the spirit and energy of the 20 corresponding day signs within the sacred Mayan ‘Tzolk’ giving each track an individual sound, theme and characteristic. Remarkably constructed, wonderfully imaginative and astonishingly uplifting music.
