Secret Pilot are finally back after a long summer honing their live set and a hard first semester writing new tracks. The 4 piece alternative rock band from Manchester have been busy in the studio over the Christmas period and have finally narrowed down their recordings to a fine 3 track EP, ready for release.
The EP kicks off with ‘Climbing The Ladder’; an up tempo, politically motivated track, including the strong vocal harmonies that have become synonymous with the SP sound. The Tide is the heaviest SP track to date, with the focus on crunchy guitars and an impressive lead vocal. The EP concludes with ‘Punching Underwater’; a drum and bass lead song with subtle guitar work, vocal harmonies and a change in chorus tempo all contributing to the SP signature sound.
Tom, Paddy, Ali and Phil all met during their first year at the University of Manchester (09/10) in the infamous Tower of Owens Park. The boys bonded over a common interest in music at open mic nights in Fallowfield. Since then they have released an acclaimed EP‘Talking the Talk’, played regularly on the Manchester and Liverpool circuits and received regional radio play in the North West.
The Secret Pilot sound incorporates up beat catchy guitar hooks with folk orientated vocal harmonies. No one is carried in Secret Pilot, with everyone contributing to the song writing process. Their collective influences range from local North West heroes The Coral, to global superstars such as The Who and Fleetwood Mac. This culminates in a sound striving for originality in a musical world where everything appears to have been done before.
The boys have come a long way in the year they have been together and are set to increase their ever expanding profile, reputation and fan base with this exciting set of new songs. They will be showcasing these new tracks on the 27th February at the Ruby Lounge. Please don’t miss out on seeing Secret Pilot do what they do best at one of Manchester’s premier live music venues.
