Fiery New female fronted rockers My Inner Burning, who hail from Germany’s Lower Saxony region, have signed to Steamhammer / SPV Records to release their surprisingly mature, highly accomplished sophomore album, ‘Eleven Scars’, on March 28th.
“We play unmistakeable metal, but we like to include gothic, rock and pop elements” states guitarist / founder Torsten Sauerbrey, nailing My Inner Burning’s powerful, alluring sound firmly down in one sweet sentence.
My Inner Burning consciously steer clear of the tried and tested ‘faster – harder – louder’ dictum, instead preferring multi –faceted songs, deep- tuned guitars and huge melodies, all based around vocalist Becky Gabor’s soaring, versatile vocals.
The dynamic yet flowing, melodic sound of ‘Eleven Scars’, which was recorded at the Metal Sound Studio in Osterode / Harz, is courtesy of Torsten Sauerbrey, who wrote most of the music, plus produced, engineered and mixed the entire album.
The expressive lyrics of the eleven incisive songs about broken friendship, lost loves and other stormy relationship dramas on ‘Eleven Scars’, come courtesy of vocalist / lyricist Becky Gabor.
My Inner Burning, who formed in 2008, released their debut, self – titled album, in November 2009 via CMM / SAOL to much positive feedback from the German rock press, let alone their sizeable live following, already built up from a series of rock club dates around the country. After headlining a major tour of Greece in February 2010 and wowing the crowds at several prestigious German festivals in late Spring, the band began working on the songs that became ‘Eleven Scars’. Steamhammer / SPV snapped up the group after hearing the demos last summer and put My Inner Burning in to the studio on October / November 2010.
“‘Eleven Scars’ sounds even groovier and darker than ‘My Inner Burning’” states Torsten, which he attributes to “the many concerts we’ve played since, and the stronger influence of our vocalist Becky, who penned the occasionally rather sinister lyrics.”
