Johnny Flynn will release ‘Churlish May’ on March 28th through Transgressive Records. ‘Churlish May’ is to be the final single from Johnny’s critically acclaimed second album ‘Been Listening’, which features appearances from Anna Calvi and Laura Marling.
‘Churlish May’ is the tale of a nomadic heartbreaker who has his own heart broken, set to sanguine brass and decorated with African inspired percussion and bass and Johnny’s beguiling vocals.
A very special, one-off solo performance will occur at The Luminaire to commemorate the London venue’s last week in business. The set-to-close, 300-capacity Luminaire in Kilburn was the original site of several early Johnny Flynn performances. The performance was announced exclusively to fans this week and has already sold out.
Details are as follows:
SUNDAY MARCH 6TH – London Kilburn Luminaire (solo show) – SOLD OUT
2010 proved to be a fantastic year for Johnny, with an extensive run of sold out shows across the UK, the Highlands, Ireland, Europe, Australia and America, all culminating in an ecstatic Shepherd’s Bush Empire performance in December.
2011 is continuing at the same pace. As of February 4th, Johnny commenced a role at the Royal Court Theatre, starring in The Heretic – a new play by Richard Bean, which has just opened to glowing reviews.
Following the run, Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit will be appearing at numerous UK and European festivals this summer, with a further full band US tour to precede in May/June – details to be announced shortly.
