Matt Henshaw announces new EP on 17th April

| On 15, Feb 2011

But what’s really great about it is that whenever Henshaw –opens his mouth to sing, this amazing sound comes out. It’s sublime, a blue-eyed soul voice to compare with the best of them, soaring over the song, mapping out the contours of the melody with just the tiniest bit of grit”

Guardian

“A sample-loving B-boy from the midlands, fancying himself as the missing link between Jamie T and Mike Skinner”

NME

“Soothing and Uplifting”

Matt Henshaw is back with his latest EP named The Fire Pit, set for release 17th April on Rusty Jukebox records. Following on from the success of his previous EP ‘Can’t Hold Back’, Matt is back with a 5-track sample of his latest impressive material.

After a previous flirtation with success performing at Reading and Leeds and the Isle of Wight festivals, this ultimately came too soon for Matt. Since taking a break from the scene of music, even meandering off into the world of novel-writing and short-stories, Matt Henshaw came back with the help of one Reggimental in Easter 2010 lending his talents to the project Something For The Strive. Matt was likened to such acts as Mike Skinner of The Streets, Jamie T, Mark Ronson and Plan B.

Success followed through the NME Breakthrough Artists as Matt was voted by their readers to perform on the main stage of London’s Lovebox festival last July.

The new EP, The Fire Pit’ is a 5-track number which sees Matt team up once again with Reggi, Radio 1 and Mike Skinner’s favourite new rapper, Joey G-Zus. The EP opens with the title track, followed by ‘Get Down’, ‘Get Me Some’, ‘When I Close My Eyes’ and ending on a high with ‘The World’s Gone Mad’ which features Joey G-Zus and Reggimental. Each track could easily hold its own against if not overshadow some already established artists trying to break this genre. Matt Henshaw should be considered as a future force to be reckoned with.

Nottingham born Matt clearly has a sound base to progress from with the new record and already has a solid base of fans to push him in the right direction. Using instruments and samples in the way he does, Matt’s music coupled with Reggi’s MC skills can sound almost like a UK ‘Nas’, which is no mean feat and can only mean good things for the way Matt is heading on the next level of his exciting career.
