Mojo Fury – Colour Of The Bear

Mojo Fury unveils their single Colour Of The Bear ahead the release of their debut album – Visiting Hours of a Travelling Circus – set for release April 11th, 2011.
“Colour of the Bear” has the kind of anger which Nirvana had, and in some way even reminds me the Arctic Monkeys. A good start promises good expectations, which unfortunately are not preserved. There is a nice melody and plenty of nice atmosphere and sounds, but something is still missing… a bunch of riffs that only seems put together without a real connection.
The acoustic version of “The Mann” included here sounds like a completely different track: it is a good acoustic song, characterised by a warm sound, an easy structure and an accurate selection of sounds. The strength of this track is the atmosphere created by the walking groove and melody. The lyrics are nice: “Has anybody got directions? Cuz I’m lost and struck down I’m losing patience. Sell me a way to go any place… Will do. Saw a man at a crossroads, he could have crossed so many times. Should have asked him where he was going, but I had him in my mind. Maybe he was a dream I had, maybe he was a sign You never know ’cause these things happen all the time ”. Really a good reinterpretation for a jerky art-metal song, even if in terms of originality certainly not exalted, indeed it recalls groups like Oasis and Blur.
Mixed feelings about this release, I shall wait and check what they have in store with the album.
