INNERCITY PIRATES

‘CUTTING NOSES, CHASING TALES’

Label: Superdark Music

Release Date: 28th February 2011

‘Cutting Noses, Chasing Tales’ is the brilliant and frenetic debut album out on the 28th february from garage indie-punk outfit Innercity Pirates. Russell Toomey- former frontman of post Britpop yowlers My Red Cell is back, his unique visceral snarl set against a wall of sound, driving guitars and drums, insanely catchy hooks and melodies that ooze with attitude. Along with producer Pedro Ferreira (The Darkness,) the band have successfully blended together melodic, riff-laden guitar pop with suitable snarling vocals to create something unique in a way few modern punk bands dare.

Russell first made a name for himself a few years ago he wrote 13 love songs that he spat out in a primeval punk snarl under the guise of My Red Cell. They were released on the album ’13 in my 31’ through the now defunct V2 label.

To date the band has received support from Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, 6 Music. Xfm and Radio 2 and won plaudits from NME, Clash, Big Cheese, Clash, Rocksound, Word, The Guardian Guide and Sunday Times Culture.

Innercity Pirates, who come via Barry Island, Belgium, USA and the Emerald Isle, are fast gaining a reputation as one of the most exhilarating live bands on the circuit and on the evidence of this debut, 2011 is guaranteed to be a very excited year for them.
