Charlene Soraia Play One Love’s First Birthday Party Streamed Live Online

| On 11, Feb 2011

The massively talented singer songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire Charlene Soriaia will have her music painted live when she performs an acoustic set at One Love‘s first birthday at The Social on Monday 14th February. Indie rock outfit Missing Andy will also have their music painted. So if you fancy a truely alternative and arty way to celebrate Valentine’s Day this is it!

Charlene, now 22,  first picked up a guitar at the tender age of five and spent hours teaching herself to play and honing her innate talent. She performed in public for the first time aged just 8 years old and hasn’t looked back since. By the age of 10 her life ambition, if the music career failed, was to become a luthier (how many 10 year olds even know what that is?) and after a few years practice she rebuilt a 1973 Japanese 335 guitar when she was 17. Her debut single, the beautiful and beguiling ‘When We Were Five’ met with crtical aclaim when it was released last autumn and her debut album, ‘Moonchild’, will be released in the spring.

One Love is a very special monthly live music painting installation curated by Kilford The Music Painter. It’s the place where great musicians come to have their live music painted by Kilford.  Described as “the art world’s very own rock star” he sees colours when he hears music and has painted alongside such musical luminaries as the Black Eyed Peas, Damon Albarn, Paul Weller, Deep Purple, The Magic Numbers. Baaba Maal, The Feeling, Cerys Matthews and The Charlatans. He also painted live on stage with the mighty Iggy Pop at Sonisphere, Knebworth, last summer.

Tickets are £5 and all proceeds go to the The Sam Buxton Sunflower Healing Trust – www.cancertherapies.org.uk.

If you can’t make it down don’t worry. The night will be streamed live at www.themusicpainter.com/live

The Social is located at 5 Little Portland Street, London W1. Doors open at 7.30 and Charlene will be on stage at 8.45pm. Missing Andy will follow at 9.30pm.
