‘Fuelled by an unforgettable fire, these Scouse rockers summon the stadium squall of U2, playing small venues as if they were headlining Wembley’ – The Guardian
Liverpool’s Sound Of Guns return with a new single ‘Breakwater’, released on April 4th via Distiller Records. The single will be available as a free download with additional tracks ‘Statues’ and ‘Bottled In Birkenhead’ via iTunes for the full release.
An unashamed mesh of bold, defiant and vitriolic guitars, ‘Breakwater’, which has been made XFM’s Single of the Week, is a fine example of the band’s formation of sound, adding to their existent arsenal of already mighty stadium-scale songs. This new track follows their last single ‘Elementary of Youth’ and precedes a forthcoming album featuring brand new material due for release later this year.
It’s shaping up to be a busy year ahead; XFM have announced that the band’s debut album ‘What Came From Fire’ is in their nominations for the New Music Awards 2011, as voted by its listeners. SOG join a roll call of contenders including Delphic, Two Door Cinema and Everything Everything for the accolade. The winner of this year’s XFM New Music Award will be decided by a panel of judges on Wed Feb 9th and announced at XFM New Music Award gig at The Borderline.
Adding more fuel to the fire, the band has a spread of live shows throughout February with The Last Shadow Puppet’s Miles Kane, including HMV’s Next Big Thing w/Funeral Party. Full tour dates are:
