“Political activism in music is alive and well – just ask The King Blues, who have gone from the squat scene to Radio 1”
The King Blues have just released a new single and viral video for “We Are Fucking Angry” available as a free download from all of their websites and social networks. The track, which is as explosive as it’s title suggests, is taken from the band’s forthcoming album ‘Punk & Poetry’ due for release in Spring of this year. A full length and viral video was speedily created for the track by young director Matt Fleming, who has married a high-energy montage of the recent student activism across the UK, with the music. The video, which perfectly compliments the song’s musical and lyrical content, is as intense as it is relevant to current affairs and the issues affecting many young people today.
Singer, Itch, has said the following about the track:
“as we began seeing the start of the cuts taking place i saw my friends lose their jobs, their futures, their homes. the police quickly became the government’s private army and it was clearly obvious we were once again under tory rule. whether a student, a worker, unemployed or disabled, we were all going to pay for their mistakes- on the streets and demonised- we suddenly didn’t seem all that different from each other. i wrote this song hoping to fan the flames of discontent, the fightback is inevitable, we are fucking angry- which side are you on?”
The band have also manufactured a set of limited edition ‘WE ARE FUCKING ANGRY’ T-shirts, available from http://www.backstreet-merch.com/bands/kb/
