London, 3rd February
“Dedicated to the people that had been there from the start”. This is Liela Moss’ thank you to the crowd of Heaven, under the notes of first success ‘Red Weather’.
At the NME tour awards series fans of The Duke Spirit had the chance to listen to the great hits from ‘Cut across the land’ and ‘Neptune’, plus extracts from the latest ‘Kusama EP’, waiting for ‘Bruiser’, third album coming out in may.
Echoes from Velvet Underground, Jesus and Mary Chain and Sonic Youth drift through the stage and enchant a sold out venue audience where you could meet people of all ages.
London’s still Duke Spirit home and it’s here that the band have its greatest cult-like following.
Liela, Luke, Toby, Marc and Ollie are now a tight-knit ensemble able to produce perfect executions and the symbiosis with the crowd is absolutely total.
‘Lion rip’ and ‘Love is an unfamiliar name’ are gems the public knows down pat, but the surprise comes from gripping ‘Everybody’s under your spell’ that marks a new level for the band, finally mature and well-aware of its full potential. Do you want some evidence? Check out ‘Kusama’, out on 7th February!
