Raucous Kentucky rockers, CAGE THE ELEPHANT, return to the fray with the eagerly-awaited release of their second album ‘THANK YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY’ onMarch 21st 2011.
Produced by Jay Joyce, the album is the band’s follow up to their 2009 self-titled debut, which has now sold over 500,000 copies worldwide (and remained on the Billboard 200 Chart for 73 consecutive weeks). The album will be preceded with the release of lead single ‘Shake Me Down’ on March 13th .Described by RollingStone as a ‘Pixies-to-the-max jam’, the single showcases an album heavily influenced by 90’s grunge and is packed with explosive loud-quiet-loud moments. Other stand-out tracks include ‘Aberdeen’. ‘Sell Yourself’, ‘Around my Head’’ and the beautiful ‘Flow’. Currently at #3 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, ‘Shake Me Down’ is on course to be the band’s third US #1.
The young five-piece from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Matt Shultz (vocals), Brad Shultz (guitar), Daniel Tichenor (bass), Lincoln Parish (guitar) and Jared Champion (drums), accumulated over 80 songs worth of ideas during a 2-year period touring around the globe and living here in the UK supporting their eponymous debut. To herald the new album, CAGE THE ELEPHANT will return to our shores for a one-off show at the LONDON’S RELENTLESS GARAGE on FEBRUARY 3RD.
