AAAmusic chatted with The Heartbreaks. Here’s what we discovered!
AAAMusic: You have already released two singles: when can we expect the debut album to be relesead? Can you tell us anything about it?
The Heartbreaks: Soon, soon… We can’t hang around forever. I was talking to Joseph about it the other day and he said something about the album being a snapshot of where we are… I like that.
AAAMusic: The UK press has written marvellous things about you. Does this add extra pressure to the album?
The Heartbreaks: No pressure, no… Only extra encouragement.
AAAMusic: You are often compared to The Smiths and one can easily see their influence. Are there other artists who you took inspiration from?
The Heartbreaks: Modest Mouse, Electronic, The Cribs… I jest, of course. Bruce Springsteen, Del Shannon, Mary Wells…. All the big ones.
AAAMusic: You’ll be perfoming at one of the NME Awards Shows. Which festivals do you dream of playing at?
The Heartbreaks: I don’t think I really like the summer festivals. Maybe the Kite Festival in Morecambe. We like that.
AAAMusic: Thinking about the future. You’d like to be as famous as…?
The Heartbreaks: Sliced bread.
AAAMusic: Do you think music has a social duty, or else, it is just a pure entertaining excercise?
The Heartbreaks: I like pop songs… Musician’s have no more social duty than anyone else. They’re just a bit louder.
AAAMusic: Which are the contemporary artists you appreciate the most?
The Heartbreaks: Paul Weller. Speaks volumes, doesn’t it?
AAAMusic: With whom would you love to duet?
The Heartbreaks: Laura Marling…. Scarlet Johansson… Cilla Black.
AAAMusic: What’s your view on programs such as the X-Factor?
The Heartbreaks: (To the tune of Happy Birthday To You) Boring, boring, boring. Boring, Boring, boring. Boring, boring… Matt Cardle. Boring, boring, boring.
