London, 20th January

Before beginning their two-night stint supporting The Walkmen this week, Denmark’s Treefight for Sunlight graced the stage in Hoxton for their first ever UK show. The set was somewhat short, but showcased well enough the band’s particular brand of vaguely left field ethereal pop. Still, I couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed. While single Facing The Sun is definitely catchy, and by no means a bad track, the rest of the band’s musical repertoire comes across as pretty unremarkable.

Treefight for Sunlight have plenty of potential, and it’s not hard to see why they’re enjoying newfound popularity here at the moment. But from what my admittedly limited impressions of them suggest, they’re sadly quite forgettable. I’ll give their debut album a listen and hope to be proved wrong, though.
