| On 24, Jan 2011

Øya festival is the largest outdoor music festival in Oslo, the capital of Norway and one of the most discerning in Europe. Promoting a diverse line up from across the globe, 2010 saw standout performances from the likes of Pavement, M.I.A, Iggy & The Stooges, Flaming Lips, LCD Soundsystem, The XX, The Specials, Robyn, Paul Weller and The National.

The first confirmed acts for 2011’s festival show no let up in Øya’s firm belief in showcasing the hottest and most diverse artists from across the globe.

With their sophomore album one of the most anticipated of the year, this will be Fleet Foxes second appearance at Øya, having played a memorable set in 2009 as the sun went down over the lake. Joining Fleet Foxes are alt-country legends The Jayhawks (their first confirmed European festival appearance of the original line up), critically lauded US acts Warpaint and Twin Shadow, whilst Texan post-rockersExplosions in the Sky and Norway’s own 120 Days will be pushing sonic frontiers to within touching distance of the Arctic Circle.
