HERMANOS INGLESOS
‘TAKE ME DOWN’
21ST FEBRUARY 2010
PIAS
‘Take Me Down’ is the brilliant floor-filling future anthem and second UK single from Belgian newcomers Hermanos Inglesos. The lyrics are lifted from a rather well known Guns ‘n Roses song and given a fresh and radical delivery style that’s set against a hypnotic soundbed of glitchy electro. It’s accompanied by a clutch of sterling remixes from The Living Islands, The Glimmers, Jaimie Fanatic, Huoratron and Jan Driver.
Their debut single ‘Wanderland’ was released here in the summer and was an absolute blog smash with the video (directed by Kristof Luyckx & Michéle Vanparys) receiving over 100,000 hits on Vimeo. It was shown at film festivals all over the world and won several awards. The video also displays the boys’ rather interesting obsession with birds, a theme that runs through everything from the artwork and posters to their very own bird infested jumpers.
Having gained support from the likes of Kissy Sellout, Boris Dlugosh, Fake Blood, Goose and Tiga whilst building up a strong army of fans throughout the blogs, expect to see a whole lot more of this outfit in the coming months.
Hermanos Inglesos are real life brothers Cedric and Didier Engels. Their name did not come about so that they could secure themselves a lucrative future as part of a Columbian smuggling cartel or so that they could later become a cheesy Anglo-Mexican Mariachi band. Their surname is Engels which is Dutch for English and they are brothers. So English Brothers became Hermanos Inglesos. So far these ‘Brothers English’ have won a Diesel-U-Music Award, set clubs and festivals alight with their eclectic DJ sets, remixed the likes of Yeasayer, Temper Trap, Ladytron and Digitalism and recorded an album ‘The Wander of You’ which will get it’s UK release in 2011.
