The Wombats kick off the New Year with ‘Hard Rock Presents Absolute Radio Sessions’ on 25 January

| On 11, Jan 2011

Hard Rock Cafe and Absolute Radio have announced that The Wombats will be the first act of 2011 to perform as part of the exclusive ‘Hard Rock Presents Absolute Radio Sessions’ at Hard Rock Cafe London on 25th January.

This intimate fans only show will be hosted by Absolute Radio Hometime DJ Geoff Lloyd and will broadcast on the station on Saturday 1st February 2011 at 7pm. Tickets for the show can only be won by tuning into Absolute Radio, or going on http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk .

Following the success of the Scouse lads’ debut album “The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation” which took the UK by storm in 2007 with anthemic hits such as ‘Backfire at the Disco’ and ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division’, their new album is set for release on April 11th 2011. This exclusive show is a fantastic chance for fans to hear some of the new material from the highly anticipated new release entitled ‘The Wombats Proudly Present…This Modern Glitch’ featuring the hit single ‘Tokyo, (Vampires & Wolves)’ and the new single ‘Jump Into The Fog’ which is released on January 24th on 14th Floor Records.

The Wombats follow in the footsteps of Editors, Squeeze, Scouting For Girls and Amy Macdonald, all which have headlined previous ‘Hard Rock Presents Absolute Radio Sessions’ shows at Hard Rock Cafe London. These shows continue Hard Rock’s commitment to hosting live music events – within the last few years the likes of Aerosmith, Stevie Wonder, The Charlatans and Fun Lovin’ Criminals have all performed intimate shows at Hard Rock Cafe London – as well as amplify Absolute Radio’s commitment to delivering the best live music to its listeners.

National station Absolute Radio is committed to live music – the station has broadcasted live from the Isle of Wight Festival, Hard Rock Calling, V Festival and has had more than 100 sessions in the Absolute Radio studios from the likes of Chris Martin, Kasabian and Lily Allen. For the station’s second birthday Breakfast Show DJ Christian O’Connell hosted a once in a lifetime  gig in the beautiful surroundings of The Union Chapel in Islington, with none other than Sir Elton John to just a few hundred lucky Absolute Radio listeners creating a real moment in music history.
