Fare Soldi remix of Herr Styler ‘Jack’ giveaway

Herr Styler will release their awesome new EP ‘Double Sided Paper’ in January 2011. It’s a record full of fun and quirkiness with huge tunes that go off on weird and wonderful tangents. The band has described their music as “a record about Ferdinand de Saussure and the ages of human beings.”
The tracks follow the first steps of Age: ‘Jack’ is full of mischief and off kilter nostalgia and symbolises childhood as a big hide and seek game between kids and wolves. ‘Snow in Paris’ is a peak inside the head of a 10 year old child who is imagining what a nightclub might be like. He’s never been there but has heard stories of crazy nights from his older sister. His perceptions are exaggerated and mirrored in this monster of a song. Finally ‘Let’s Rock’ is full of teen rebellion and angst – disagreeing with the entire world on a daily basis or enraging your parents with acts such as getting your first piercing at 16 without their consent. The EP also boasts remixes from Mouillinex, Ari, Depressed Buttons, Scuola Furano and Fare Soldi.
Herr Styler are an enigmatic and rather secretive duo (originally from Italy but living in Paris) who’s identity has so far been kept under wraps. Imagine if you caught David Lynch hanging out with Talking Heads in Fabric. Or if Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel joined forces to create a power duo (they haven’t, thank God). Or Kitano Takeshi featured in a Hayao Miyazaki animation movie. They hardly ever agree with each other – or with the world for that matter – and deliver intriguing music as a result of this weird and wonderful dynamic. They use synths, basses, kick drums, snare drums, steel drums, guitars, wolves, saxophones, pencils and almonds to create their sound.
Despite their self imposed mystery, Herr Styler do enjoy lending their remixing skills to a privileged selection of artists such as Minitel Rose, Amari, Supermen Lovers and Caro Emerald, which have been well received on the blogs and hype machine. With the release of this EP and another one in the pipeline, Herr Styler continue to instill a sense of mischief and fun with their music for a whole host of listeners.
