Saturday 8th January sees the first Saturday Matinee of 2011 and what a line-up we have for you! It must surely be the perfect way to see the New Year in.  What better to way to kick start your shopping in the New Year than by visiting Topman’s Oxford Circus store with the thought of longer warmer days ahead and being able to ditch the big coat in favour of a lighter spring wardrobe. Saturday Matinee further enhances Topman’s ongoing support of the brightest musical talent around and perfectly compliments our existing music platform Topman CTRL (topmanctrl.com).

Firstly this week we have ‘Brassica’ filling the 1pm-3pm slot followed by hotly tipped ‘Cocknbullkid’ between 4pm-6pm.

Brassica is a one man operation masterminded by Michael Anthony Wright. His sound can be described as handmade electronic music and his records can usually be found in the ‘nu-disco’ section in the record shop. Michael is also a prolific re-mixer as well as songwriter and producer so is always on the look out for new ideas, inspiration and collaborators.

Hackney’s Anita Blay is more commonly known as Cocknbullkid. She first came into the spotlight a couple of years ago and appeared on Jools Holland before she had even released a single. Her 2008 debut ‘On My Own’ EP was well received by critics but it’s 2011 that sees the release of her highly anticipated debut album ‘Adulthood’ which comes out on Moshi Moshi / Island Records and is produced by Liam Howe who recently produced Marina and the Diamonds debut album. 2011 looks like being the breakthrough year for Cocknbullkid.
