YUCK
New single ‘Holing Out’ released 7th Feb 2011
Tour plans for January/February announced
Right now, Yuck are poised to have an incredible 2011. After a year spent building a deeply smitten and devoted fanbase with limited edition singles, cassette EP’s andgigs supporting the likes of Dinosaur Jr, Dum Dum Girls and Built to Spill, they are now making critics’ tips for next year – even making it onto the longlist for the BBCSound of 2011.
Now comes their new single “Holing Out”, taken from their self-titled debut LP, due in February 21, and which is now streaming on the band’s blog. Already gainingardent admirers during the band’s live set, it is a speeding, frenetic monster of a rock song, a gloriously squalling and effortlessly infectious anthem in waiting, the likes ofwhich they simply do not make anymore, as Daniel Blumberg vents his frustrations at an unnamed antagonist who is “just a point of view”.
Equally exciting is the news that Yuck are also making their maiden voyage out to the US next year, with a January tour alongside fellow merchants of pristine scuzz pop Smith Westerns already booked. Will they conquer American hearts too? On this evidence, we can’t see a reason why not…
