This week firstly we have female DJ duo My Ex-Boyfriends Records fill the 1pm-3pm slot followed by one of the most talked about bands of the moment Chapel Club between 4pm-6pm.
My Ex-Boyfriends Records are a London based all girl DJ team who trawl through their ex-boyfriends’ leftovers and spin current and old indie, punk, pop, electronica, rockabilly, 60’s garage, soul and psych, and whatever takes their fancy.
Chapel Club are an all London five-piece formed in the summer of 2008. After a year or so fine tuning their sound they set upon a series of low key gigs that attracted a lot of media attention and the scramble to sign them began. They eventually signed for Universal Records off shoot Loog. Their music has been described as moody, majestic and magnificent and can be heard to take influence from bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth and Neil Young. They are currently finishing off their debut album with acclaimed producer Paul Epworth which will released in early 2011. With fans such as Zane Lowe championing them, 2011 could be the breakthrough year for Chapel Club.
Catch My Ex-Boyfriends Records and Chapel Club as part of this week’s Saturday Matinee and stay up to date with the latest news and additions to the line-up at topman.com and topmanctrl.com.
