Dust down your party hats and crack open the fizz because December 21 sees rising singer-songwriter Claire Nicolson celebrating a very hectic 2010 with a one-off festive knees-up: the Claire Nicolson Christmas Loveshack at Chelsea Farmers’ Market.

‘It’s one of my favourite places,’ she says, ‘as it was where I launched my debut single ‘Toothpaste & Whisky back in the summer. So it seemed only right that I throw a winter shindig here too.’

Arrive early for party nibbles and steaming cups of mulled wine, and wrap up snug as it’s an alpine-themed alfresco bash. But if it’s still arctic out there, don’t fret as the venue is more or less covered and heated, and there’s a cosy, candle-lit inside bar.

As you’d expect from Claire it promises to be a laidback bash, with all proceeds in support of London’s Air Ambulance. Starting gently at 3pm, a Classical String Quartet will be followed by two special half hour sets (4pm/6pm) from Claire and her band, featuring friends from Alabama 3. Other highlights include a spoken word performer at 5pm, and further surprise guests, freebies, and giveaways, including acclaimed poet/satirist Ant The Rant and live painting from Kilford – The Music Painter.

The party follows the success of debut single “Toothpaste & Whisky”, which won plaudits across print and online press, as well airplay on BBC Radio 2, 6 Music and elsewhere. The inaugural UK leg of her acclaimed ‘Sing For Her Supper’ Tour across South West England, in which she pitches up at pubs offering a tune or two in exchange for a hot meal, has resulted in lots of local press attention and an interview on the BBC (listen here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/cornwall/hi/). Remaining December dates are:

10th December – The Pigs Nose Inn, Kingsbridge

11th December – Totnes (Venue TBC)

12th December – Prince Of Wales, Caversham, Reading RG4 8JN

14th December – Café 1001, London

18th December – Bull & Butcher, Turville

Don’t miss forthcoming album “52 Card Pick Up”, due Spring 2011, preceded by a second single (Title tbc) on March 7
