John Giddings, the Festival promoter, says “We have the best of the album chart, and one of the best guitarists in the world, it’s an awesome combination…”
The Script are undoubtedly one of the hottest bands of the moment. Their 2008 debut album, ‘The Script’, went to number one in the UK and Ireland, and featured a handful of hit singles, including ‘We Cry’ and ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’. The Script are songwriters of the first order, combining thoughtful, heartfelt lyrics with lush melodies and with the success of their second album, ‘Science & Faith’ they are the perfect addition to the incredible Isle of Wight Festival 2011 line up.
Ben Drew aka Plan B has been busy singing, rapping and acting his was to success, since his early days growing up on an East London estate. His debut album, ‘Who Needs Actions When You Got Words’ broke new ground for UK hip hop in 2006 and follow up ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’ is the sound of Motown, Stax and obscure Northern Soul, filtered through the grit of contemporary East London. Now, he makes his debut appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday June 12th.
In 2009 Pixie Lott burst into the charts with her massive debut ‘Turn It Up’. Since then she has released a string of top twenty singles including ‘Cry Me Out’ and ‘Broken Arrow’, proving that girls can do it just as well as the boys at the Isle of Wight Festival 2011.
After fronting the critically acclaimed Starsailor, James Walsh takes to the main stage as a solo artist. With a new album, film score and orchestral collaboration in the pipeline, he is undoubtedly a man of many talents, all sure to shine through in what will be an unforgettable Festival performance.
Jeff Beck is the ultimate guitar hero and one of the world’s most dynamic instrumentalists. He is one of a few musicians inducted twice into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, once as a solo artist and once as a member of The Yardbirds. With a career spanning over four decades, the multi Grammy Award winner will make an extra special guest appearance at the Festival, a truly spectacular setting for this world-class performer.
