‘Enjoying Moths’ is the début album from Manchurian hailed ‘Softpreist‘ also known as Charles Bayley. A beautifully enticing album which hooked me in within seconds, with its fusion of simple beats and rhythms with playful electronic melodies.
Starting with the immediately loveable track ‘Jarmy Days’ I was hooked on ‘Softpreist’ unique approach to the electronic sound and wondrous ability to not drown out there talent with the overuse of unnecessary loud noises, which is beautifully shown in ‘More Roar More’ which is a graceful symphony of electronic rhythm and melody. Track five ‘Nits 4 Gold UK’ confirmed my theory that ‘Softpreist’ is in fact an alchemist of liquid sunshine as well as an amazingly talented musician will a great potential.
Throughout the album a circus like quality shadows each track adding to the playful feeling of the album, as well as the 1980s video game like sounds which comes later on adding an element of nostalgia to the album, which is particularly evident in ‘Human Bubble Staus’ and ‘Night Soil Guy’.
Coming to a close with the track with is the namesake of the album, acting like closing credits with its repetitive yet slightly conventional electronic riff but still maintaining to stay true to ‘Softpreist’ individual sound.
The upbeat tempo and simply lovely melodies make this one album I can not fault in the slightest, each track is independent yet connect. An uncorrupted and untarnished creation displaying an array of melodies and sounds, differing in tempo and pitch to form the brilliantly unique ‘Enjoying Moths’.
