‘Envies D’Avalanches’ is the new single from Montreal based composer and songwriter Olivier Alary, aka Ensemble.

Out on 29 November, ‘Envies D’Avalanches’ is a beautiful and nostalgic exploration in romantic pulsations a la Serge Gainsbourg and montmartresque atmospheres worth of Yann Thiersen.

Alary’s voice is masterly re-structured with experimental techniques, recorded on cassette-tape and then degraded and recreated. On the b-side it is possible to admire the voice of Darcy Conroy reliving with melancholy UB40’s 1980 hit ‘Food For Thought’.

‘Envies D’Avalanches’ anticipated new album ‘Excerpts’, out on Fatcat Records in January 2011.
