During the last song at a sold-out Electric Bowery show in her current home town of New York, Alex managed to break her hand onstage during the show’s finale:
“I threw my tambourine in the audience and the only way I could keep the beat was by punching it out on the ground. Not the best idea. I didn’t notice how painful it was until after. Strangely the tambourine actually split someone in the crowd’s head open. We’ve got some time off to write now, so my hand will be fine for the next shows.” (Alex Winston)
Alex released a limited edition debut 7” ‘Choice Notes’ – produced by New York whizz-kids The Knocks (Rhianna, Ellie Goulding) – earlier this year and is currently putting the finishing touches on a brand new EP, due for release in February.
Although a multi instrumentalist, Alex lays down her instruments when playing live and lets her effervescent voice really soar. Joined by a full band and her backing singers ‘The Sisterwives’, Alex Winston’s live show is not to be missed.
